16 sacks of 50 kg packaged rice were found to be lacking or missing
again," he added.
The mode
used by the suspect was to create a quiet warehouse. The man, who is from Purwodadi
Village, Trimurjo District, Central Lampung Regency, previously asked fellow
security guards to go buy fried rice.
"The
perpetrator was both a night guard. So, when the suspect wanted to commit the
theft, he ordered his friend to buy fried rice at the Metro market, then the
suspect's friends, who were thieves, entered the warehouse," explained
IPTU Amirul Hasan.
"So
the key to the warehouse was indeed in the safe and he did know the place. So
he opened the warehouse using the key," he added.
During the
examination, the suspect admitted to committing the first theft on Sunday
(12/3/2023) at around 23.00 PM. Then he launched the second theft on Wednesday
(14/3/2023) at around 01.30 AM.

rice in the warehouse and transported them using a car. Each sack was packaged
in 50 kg," said the police chief.
Haikal
also admitted to the police that he had received a total profit of IDR 4
million from selling the stolen rice at the warehouse. "He got IDR 2.6
million for the first theft, then for the second theft he got a share of IDR
1.4 million," he explained.
The Chief
of Police said that the motive for what the suspect and his accomplice did was
due to being pressured into debts due to online gambling.
"His
motive for committing this theft was because he was in online gambling debt,
and his friends who took part in stealing it and are now in the Wantede List
also have the same motive because it is to pay debts and meet economic needs,"
he said.
Haikal is
the mastermind behind the rice theft at the Bulog warehouse. Meanwhile, the
four suspects are now fugitives from the police. Those are Sigit, Yanto, Kucing
and Muntul.
"We
secured the suspect, who is a security guard, while he was working at the
warehouse. All of the his friends are residents of Trimurjo District. It's just
a different village," he explained.
As a
result of his actions, the Bulog warehouse in the Ganjar Agung unit area
suffered a loss of 40 sacks of 50 kg packaged rice which, if estimated in
rupiah, is 20 million.
Now Haikal
along with the evidence of thirteen white sacks with the words ComPlet Feed for
laying hens Netto 50 Kg and a roll of brown tablecloth carpet are secured at
the West Metro Police Headquarters.
