Ministry of Communication and Information Surveys 8 Blank Spot Areas in West Lampung
Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) will conduct a survey of eight blank spot areas in West Lampung Regency for the construction of a base transceiver station (BTS) on September 27.
Head of the Applications Division of the West Lampung Regency Communication and Informatics Service, Iskandar, said that the eight areas included in the priority areas for base transceiver station development were in the underdeveloped, leading and outermost (3T) categories.
"It has been scheduled for a visit to West Lampung to be carried out on September 27, the eight points are included in the priority areas that have been proposed for the construction of a base transceiver station," he said, Wednesday (13/9/2023).
Dadang, his nickname, said the eight areas were Kubu Perahu Village, Balik Bukit District, Tebaliokh Village, Batu Brak District, Batu Api Village, Pahayu Jaya, Sidodadi, Pagar Dewa, Pagar Dewa District.
Then finally the villages of Sukajadi and Suka Damai which are in Air Hitam District. However, these two villages are included in the P1 category or only strengthen the signal from the nearest outgoing base transceiver station.
Dadang added, of the eight villages, there is one pekon that is included in the underdeveloped, frontier, outermost base transceiver station development program category, namely Batu Api Village, Pagar Dewa District. All regions will be surveyed by the Ministry of Communication and Information.
Dadang said that later the Ministry of Communication and Information would conduct a survey with the provider PT Telkomsel, this activity would be carried out for one day, therefore he hoped that the results would be optimal and as expected.
"Because the construction of a tower base transceiver station could be a good solution to overcome the blank spot problem which still haunts some people, we continue to wait for information from them for the next stage," he concluded.
As previously reported, a number of residents in Kubu Perahu Village, Balik Bukit District complained about the sub-optimal function of repeaters or devices used as cellular signal boosters.
The West Lampung Regency Government, through the Communications and Informatics Service, is proposing to procure a base transceiver station tower to overcome this problem, because it is considered important for the community to get internet access.
Head of West Lampung Regency Diskominfo, Munandar, said that the repeater function in the area was not yet optimal, influenced by several things, one of which was the geographical condition of the local area which is surrounded by protected forest areas.
"Because the geographical conditions are surrounded by forests and winding roads, it is difficult for providers to get a signal with a strong network, there only the 2G network is strong enough while 4G and above are no longer strong," he said.
Munandar said that his party continues to try to propose the procurement of a base transceiver station tower to overcome the blank spot problem to a number of providers, because not only in Kubu Perahu Village, but also in a number of other pekons.
"We have also received a good response from the Ministry regarding our proposal and hopefully what we proposed can be realized so that the blank spot problem on Bumi Beguai Jejama Sai Betik can be resolved," he said.
Apart from proposing the construction of a base transceiver station tower, Munandar said that his party had also made various other efforts to provide internet signals in the local area.
This includes coordinating with Village Government officials to pull optical cables from areas where the signal is good enough, he explained.
In this way, according to him, we can provide a small solution to the blank spot problem that occurs so that people do not have difficulty getting internet access for their daily needs. (*)
