Production of Dipasena Shrimp in Tulang Bawang Lampung Has Decreased Up To 75 Tons
Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - Dipasena shrimp farmers in East Rawajitu District, Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung Province complained about a decrease in production of up to 75 tons in one day.
Chairman of the Lampung Regional Shrimp Farmers Association, Suratman said, the decline in shrimp production has been felt since the last two years.
"Usually our normal production is 60 to 90 tons, but now it is below 15 tons. We are very concerned because if we maximize production per day it can be above 100 tons," said Suratman, when questioned after an audience with Governor Arinal at Mahan Agung Governor's Office. Lampung, Monday 7 August 2023.
He said, one of the reasons for this decline in production was the silting of pond irrigation canals which had begun to be felt in the last 10 years.
"This siltation has occurred for the last 10 years and the worst is the last 2 years, when 2020 to 2021 is still rather good and in 2021 and 2022 until now the impact is very visible," he explained.
According to him, the silting of the canals that occurs can make it difficult for water from the sea to enter the ponds.
In addition, shallow irrigation canals can allow unfavorable bacteria to thrive.
"The canal is about 1,490 hectares owned by 20,000 people. The status of all are still ponds but now there is silting. PUPR has already made the design but is constrained to be executed due to asset issues. We also ask for a resolution regarding asset clarity because production can be optimal when assets are clear," he explained.
Meanwhile, Assistant II for the Economy and Development of the Lampung Provincial Government, Kusnardi said, in carrying out the revitalization, the cooperation of other parties was needed, including the private sector.
"The Lampung Provincial Government supports the revitalization because it concerns the welfare of the people of Lampung, production and the economy. This revitalization can later form a community or cooperate with the private sector," he said.
Kusnardi said the problem with the revitalization was the status of the land. So it is hoped that the National Land Agency will immediately come to the field to see the original documents starting from the initial submission.
"The Cultivation Right is indeed difficult because it involves state secrets. Later the National Land Agency will immediately go to the location because the Cultivation Right is indeed difficult because it involves state secrets," he concluded. (*)
