Ahead of Eid al-Adha, Chili and Onion Prices in Metro Lampung City Have Increased
Kupastuntas.co, Metro - A week before Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijriah, the price of chili and onion commodities at the Tejoagung traditional market, East Metro District has increased significantly since a few days ago.
From Kupastuntas.co monitoring, the chili commodity that experienced an increase was red chili, from IDR 28,000 per kilogram to IDR 30,000 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, the price of green chilies, which was previously priced at IDR 17,000 per kilogram, is now IDR 20,000. Then, cayenne pepper which previously cost IDR 28,000 is now IDR 30,000.
Then, the onion commodity also experienced a significant increase since last week. Shallots, which were previously priced at IDR 35,000 per kilogram, are now IDR 40,000 per kilogram. Meanwhile, garlic is still around IDR 38,000 per kilogram.
Apart from chili and shallot prices, other commodities such as tomatoes also experienced an increase. From previously being priced at IDR 10,000 per kilogram, now it is IDR 14,000 per kilogram.
The price increase is predicted to continue until the day before Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri. This is allegedly due to the increasing needs of the community during the Feast of Sacrifice.
"It has been going up for about a week, from the price of IDR 25,000 per kilogram now to IDR 30,000. For onions, it has gone up from IDR 35,000 to IDR 40,000," said Kasi (50), a trader at the Tejoagung traditional market. Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
The same thing was conveyed by Etti (37), a chili trader at the Metro market. He said that the fluctuations in chili prices have been going on since last month.
"Since Idul Fitri yesterday, the price has always fluctuated. Two days ago the price was IDR 28,000, now it's IDR 30,000 for red chili," he said.
Meanwhile, Hamza explained that the price of shallots and white onions today is around IDR 40,000.
"Right now, a kilo of red onion is IDR 40,000, while garlic is now IDR 35,000," he stated.
Previously, in a coordination meeting (Rakor) for controlling National Level Inflation which was held by the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs virtually, ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebration at the Metro City Bappeda Command Center, Monday (19/06/2023) yesterday.
In the coordination meeting, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian, reported that the Eid al-Adha Religious and National Holidays (HBKN) did not have the potential to drive up inflation.
"It is predicted that on Eid al-Adha there will be no significant inflation potential push. This, referring to the inflation trend on Eid al-Adha, inflation is always lower when compared to Eid al-Fitr," he said at the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting. (*)
