Head of South Lampung Police Traffic Unit, AKP Jonniver Yolandra explained, the incident occurred on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, around 08.10 WIB.

"The incident took place at Jalinsum in front of the Simpang Raya Gas Station, Sukabaru Village, Penengahan District," said the head of the South Sumatra Police Chief AKBP Edwin when confirmed, Wednesday afternoon.

At the time of the incident, according to the Head of Traffic Unit, Aiptu William and Bripka Ari were on afternoon patrol and live reports in the context of preventing C3, vehicles breaking down, traffic accidents, motorcycle gangs and monitoring traffic flow in the jurisdiction of the Gayam Traffic Post.

Officers found that a public transport car was on fire and was being extinguished by a Lamsel Fire and Rescue Service car.

"After that, our officers immediately evacuated the vehicle so it would not disrupt traffic flow," continued Jonniver.

The fire caused the entire car body to be charred along with the vehicle's tires and leaving only the skeleton.

From the statement of the public transport driver, he admitted that his name was Bram (25) from Kekiling Village, Penengahan District.

"Based on the results of the interim examination, the cause of the fire is suspected to be a spark in the car engine," Kasat said

Head of the South Lampung Damkar Fire Service, Ruly Fikriansyah explained, his party was reported by Subaktio, member of the Airud Polres Lamsel Police regarding the fire that hit 1 unit of Suzuki Carry type public transport car with number plate BE 2814 DU.

"The Kalianda Post Firefighters received a report of a fire around 08.30 WIB," said Ruly.

Firefighters totaling 7 people using 1 unit of fire engine immediately rushed to the location to put out the fire.

"Around 09.30 WIB, the fire was extinguished in public transport vehicles and continued cooling. For zero fatalities, material losses are estimated at around IDR 45 million," concluded Ruly. (*)
