Kupastuntas.co, East Lampung - Grief news enveloped the family of Suratno (50), a fisherman from Sido Makmur Village, Melinting District, East Lampung Regency who was previously reported missing and found dead drowned in the sea waters of Karya Tani, Pasir Sakti District, local regency.

From the information gathered, previously the victims of Suratno said goodbye to go out to sea on Saturday, May 6 2023 at 10.45 WIB. Before drowning, witnesses who saw him confessed that he had tried to save him. but unlucky, the victim could not be helped.

East Lampung Polres Head of Polairud, AKP Yus Mawardi explained, the victim who drowned was found on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in the waters of Karya Tani.

"The incident started when the victim was in the waters of Karya Tani, Pasir Sakti District. At around 09.45 WIB, the victim got off the payang boat or boat to repair his boat," said Mawardi when confirmed by telephone. Monday, May 8, 2023.

Mawardi said, based on the results of witness statements, the victim got out of the canoe to repair the propeller that was stuck in the garbage in the sea.

"Then, the victim got off the boat to replace the boat's fan. He got off the payang boat, plunged into the water, to replace the ship's fan or propeller which had been damaged by garbage," he said.

Before drowning, the victim was carried away by an underwater current. But unfortunately, the victim could not be saved.

"Then, at the same time, there was a strong undercurrent. At that time, the undercurrent was strong and the weather was foggy. As a result, the victim was carried away by the current and drowned," he explained.

"Then, one of the victim's colleagues tried to help the victim. But it was not strong because the sea currents were very fast. As a result, the Suratno victim could not be helped and drowned," he added.

The victim's body was found stuck in a fisherman's fishing net. The condition of the body of the ill-fated fisherman is still intact.

"The second day of the search, finally the Joint Search and Rescue Team succeeded in finding the victim who was in a lifeless condition," he explained.

"We managed to find the victim's body on the second day of the search. When found, the victim's body was caught in the fishermen's net in one piece," he continued.

When evacuated, the victim's body was immediately taken to the funeral home for burial. The police said that the family was reluctant to carry out an autopsy on Suratno's body.

"Furthermore, the victim's body was delivered to the funeral home by ambulance directly. This was because the victim's family stated that an autopsy was not necessary by attaching a statement refusing the autopsy," he closed. (*)
