Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - The stretch of infrastructure development, especially roads to expedite traffic flow for motorists and travelers in Metro City has not been seen at all.

Residents who were annoyed about this immediately moved with the police to fill in potholes in the North Metro District area.

From information compiled by Kupastuntas.co, residents who were disappointed because there was no construction ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijiriah took the initiative to carry out the development independently.

Head of resident 03, Karangrejo Urban Village, North Metro District, Kusnandar revealed, mutual cooperation was carried out by residents as an effort to minimize the number of traffic accidents during the Eid homecoming season due to badly damaged road conditions.

"The damage to Road WR Supratman has been going on for a long time, so residents have taken the initiative to hoard it in order to welcome this Eid," said Kusnandar, Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Kusnandar said that the mutual cooperation of residents assisted by a number of North Metro Police personnel was carried out using split stones.

"We gotong-royong with the help of around 10 residents and North Metro Police personnel to fill in a road that was badly damaged, with a deep hole on Road WR Supratman. We filled it up using split stones and sledgehammers," he said.

He explained, the damaged road points that were carried out by the hoarding often occurred incidents of accidents caused by damaged roads and dark at night.

"So, since the situation is about Eid, then the damage to this road is too severe, so to anticipate the risk of traffic accidents, residents work together and work with the sector police and factories to stockpile this. So we get this material from assistance," he explained.

Residents also revealed that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor as well as a number of Metro City Government officials often checked and promised to fix it soon, but unfortunately until now this has not been realized.

"The Mayor has often checked and even his officers from his department have made measurements but until now nothing has been repaired. The badly damaged area is about 100 meters long, that is the one with really bad damage," he explained.

"Well, the holes are very deep, some are up to 40 centimeters deep, if the width of the road is even, you can't choose to destroy everything," he continued.

Kusnandar hopes that the Metro City Government can immediately move towards realizing development, especially ahead of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

"Residents hope that the infrastructure, especially roads, can be immediately repaired by the metro city government. The repair of this road has been repeatedly proposed, but by the time of Eid it has not been repaired. Our hope is that this badly damaged road will be repaired soon," he concluded.

On that occasion, Bhayangkara Advisor for Community Order and Security for Karangrejo Village, AIPTU Aris Hartanto explained, apart from filling up damaged roads, it was an effort to smoothen traffic for homecomers.

"So thank God the police chief asked for help from the factory to provide the crushed stone and slates so that we can work together to fill up the road. We are accompanying the community who are working together to fill up the damaged Road WR Supratman," he explained.

"So apart from being an effort to expedite traffic flow ahead of the Eid homecoming season later, it is also a follow-up to public complaints that are always submitted but the government has not responded quickly," he said.

For your information, Road WR Supratman is an alternative route for travelers from Metro City and its buffer zones to Pekalongan District, East Lampung Regency. (*)
