Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - The Lampung Province Transportation Service asked the district/city Transportation Agency to prepare parking lots at points where sweet food eaten upon breaking the fast are sold during Ramadan.

The Head of the Lampung Province Transportation Service, Bambang Sumbogo said, the parking pockets must be provided to anticipate traffic jams, especially those that often occur on main roads.

"During Ramadan, the streets will definitely be crowded with sweet food eaten upon breaking the fast sellers. From a social point of view, this is indeed a routine agenda every year. But from a transportation perspective, it will definitely cause traffic jams," he said when questioned, Monday 20 March 2023.

Bambang revealed that the source of congestion can occur due to vehicles parking carelessly so that the volume of vehicles will accumulate, especially during rush hours between 04.00 PM to 05.30 PM.

"The takjil are sold in the afternoon and this coincides with the rush hour after work. The district/city Transportation Agency must deal with this by providing parking lots or at least providing land for selling that is not on the shoulder of the main road," he said.

In addition, Bambang will also cooperate with the police to participate in conducting surveillance, especially on roads that are often a source of traffic jams.

"Later we will also go to the field, especially in the Bandar Lampung area, where sweet food eaten upon breaking the fast sellers are almost common in all sub-districts, especially on protocol roads," he explained.

Meanwhile, worried that it will cause traffic jams during Ramadan later, the Bung Karno Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Park will be closed by the City Government of Bandar Lampung during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Head of the Bandar Lampung City Industry Service, Adiansyah conveyed, so that traders who usually sell Saturday and Sunday at the Bung Karno Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Park are not allowed to hold trading stalls during Ramadan later.

"Because there are sales in the morning, while we are fasting. So we will temporarily close like last year," said Adiansyah, recently.

Then, if you sell it in the afternoon, this will disturb road users.

This is because during Ramadan, the volume of vehicles is more dense. There are people coming home from work and so on, so this will cause traffic jams.

"Traders there sell their goods until they use the road, so they have to be closed. If you trade as usual in the morning, it might not be a problem, but in the afternoon there are many vehicles that pass there," he said.

Especially during Ramadan, he said, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises can sell in front of the Bandar Lampung City Government office.

"So in the Bung Karno Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Park, we will reopen after Eid," he said. (*)
