"This trend has actually been happening since 2022 during Eid, at which time even though the PPKM had not been revoked, several relaxations and concessions had been made in several regions," he said, Monday, March 20, 2023.

Taufiq revealed, currently his party is starting to make a number of preparations such as improving service quality by carrying out toll road repairs from the Bakauheni section to the Kayu Agung section which is targeted for completion on April 7, 2023.

"If there are no obstacles, we are targeting to be on schedule on April 7, the work will be completed in its entirety. In addition, we will add several facilities such as toilets, modular gas stations, public electric vehicle filling stations, mobile automated teller machines and standby workshops," he explained.

Apart from that, his party will also add officers at several toll gates to help tap toll cards and add officers to maintain security both at the post that will be set up and at the rest area.

"We will work with relevant stakeholders such as the police, military, police, the Department of Transportation, the Health Service, the National Disaster Management Agency and other partners to synergize with each other which has been running so far," he said.

He predicts that the surge in the number of travelers from the Bakauheni section will reach two times compared to the condition of vehicles passing during normal conditions.

"From the Bakauheni side, normal conditions are 36 thousand vehicles every day, and it is predicted that there will be a surge of up to 70 thousand. From the Terbanggi to Kayu Agung side, the normal conditions are around 8 thousand and will experience an increase of up to 3 times or 24 thousand units," he explained.

Taufiq explained, the peak for homecoming flows will likely occur on April 19, 2023. Meanwhile, the return flow will occur on April 25, 2023.

"We will increase security patrols and add personnel. Now we also have CCTV installed for 24 hours. So the hope is that this year's homecoming can go smoothly," he said.
