Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - Mount Anak Krakatau erupted 2 times and threw columns of ash with the highest height reaching 657 meters above sea level, Saturday 18 March 2023 at 02.46 PM.

The next eruption occurred at 06.46 PM with an eruption of a gray column of ash reaching 457 meters above sea level.

A written report made by an officer at the Mount Anak Krakatau observation post, Ade Yasser Akhmad Purwata and uploaded to the magma.esdm.go.id website, stated that the first eruption at 02.46 PM was still ongoing.

"The height of the eruption column is approximately 500 meters above the peak, or 657 meters above sea level. At the time this report was made, the eruption was still ongoing," wrote Ade Yasser Akhmad.

Explosion of columns of white to gray ash was recorded with moderate to thick intensity to the southwest.

"Seven times Hybrid/Phase earthquakes with an amplitude of 15-58 millimeters, 5 times volcanic earthquakes with an amplitude of 50-60 millimeters," continued Ade Yasser Akhmad.

Apart from that, there was also a continuous tremor with an amplitude of 1-21 millimeters and a dominant of 6 millimeters.

Then, the second eruption recorded an eruption column as high as approximately 300 meters above the peak.

"Approximately 457 meters above sea level, the eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 38 millimeters and a duration of 53 seconds," continued Ade Yasser Akhmad.

Regarding the ash column, it is still gray with medium to thick intensity moving towards the southwest. Mount Anak Krakatau is reported to be in a level 3 or alert position.
