Police Exterminate Illegal Fishing Practices in Ketapang South Lampung Indonesia, Fishermen from Banten Arrested

Kupastuntas.co, South Lampung - A fisherman named Senen (36) had to deal with the police after being caught fishing using illegal fishing gear, namely trawls, in the waters of Ketapang District, South Lampung Regency.

Senen is a fisherman from Kampung Baru Bugis, Banten Village, Kasemen District, Serang City, Banten Province.

Head of the Water and Air Police Unit for the South Lampung Resort Police (Sat Polairud Polres Lamsel), Iptu Fathul Arif explained, the perpetrator was arrested while fishing in the waters of Munduh Island, Ketapang District.

"The perpetrator was arrested last Friday (10/3/2023), at around 11.39 PM by officers of the Lamsel Police Sat Polairud during a patrol using the XXV-1016 boat," explained Iptu Fathul Arif, Monday (13/3/23).

At that time, the police found fishing activities carried out by the fishing boat KN Azril Saputra allegedly using trawls.

The patrol officer then approached the fishing boat located at coordinates -5'36'43"S 105'51'43"E to carry out an inspection.

"Then, the patrol team secured the perpetrators and the motor boat along with fishing gear that was prohibited or illegal fishing, to the South Lampung Police Sat Polairud headquarters," continued Arif.

In addition to the perpetrators, the police also confiscated evidence including a motorized boat KN Azril Saputra, a set of fishing gear suspected of being trawls and fish caught.

 "Our suspect was charged with using Article 85 Juncto Article 9 Juncto Article 100B of Law Number 45 of 2009 concerning amendments to Law Number 31 of 2004 concerning fisheries," said Iptu Fathul. (*)
