The Population of Beef Cattle in Lampung Indonesia in 2022 will Reach 906,568 Heads

Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung - The Central Bureau of Statistics for Lampung Province noted that the population of beef cattle in Lampung in 2022 was 906,568 heads, and has increased compared to the previous year, which was 904,076 heads.

The beef cattle population is spread across 15 regencies/cities in Lampung, including West Lampung 7,606 heads, Tanggamus 6,951 heads, South Lampung 155,101 heads, East Lampung 161,443 heads, Central Lampung 367,221 heads, North Lampung 33,141 heads.

Then Way Kanan 42,654 heads, Tulang Bawang 29,194 heads, Pesawaran 23,547 heads, Pringsewu 17,581 heads, Mesuji Rp. 10,266 heads, West Tulangbawang 29,284 heads, West Coast 10,189 heads, Bandar Lampung 1,404 heads and Metro 10,986 heads.

Secretary of the Lampung Province Livestock and Animal Health Service, Anwar Fuadi said, his party continues to strive to increase the number of beef cattle populations in Lampung.

Efforts to increase the population of beef cattle are through the implementation of priority activities such as cattle and buffalo which are the country's mainstay commodities in synergy with the central government through improving artificial insemination services.

"Then pregnancy checks and birth reporting. For this year the target for calves to be born in Lampung is around 160,740. For 2022 the actual birth of calves in Lampung is 161,549 or 102.13 percent of the central target," said Anwar, when questioned, Thursday 2 March 2023 .

Other activities that are also carried out include providing assistance and coaching to livestock groups. Facilitation of livestock machinery and livestock seeds. As well as increasing the production of frozen semen with the Indonesian National Standard at the Technical Implementation Unit of the Regional Artificial Insemination Center and improving the quality of livestock breeds at the Technical Implementation Unit of the other nursery services.

"Then also increase the degree of animal health through animal disease control such as strategic infectious animal disease control, then such as Nail Mouth Disease and control of reproductive diseases," he explained.

According to him, ahead of the National Religious Holidays, the need for livestock tends to increase in line with the level of public consumption which also increases.

"Lampung Province also sent around 40 percent of Lampung's stock, which is ready-to-sell stock, yes, it's different from the population, because not all of the population is ready to sell. These were sent to Jabodetabek, and other provinces in Sumatra such as the Riau Islands and Bangka Belitung," he explained. (*)
