811 Drivers in Lampung Indonesia Violate Traffic in 11 Days

Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung - A total of 811 motorists in Lampung Province violated traffic and were prosecuted during 11 days of the Krakatau Safety Operation 2023.

Head of the Lampung Police Traffic Directorate task force, Police Commissioner Yerru Ewandono Sunjoto said, traffic violators were dominated by motorbike riders who were committed at terminals, main roads, markets and crowded places.

"The Lampung Police Dirlantas Task Force will take action against the violators in the form of a warning and an appeal for orderly traffic," said Yerru, when giving a statement, Friday 17 February 2023.

The details of the action were that as many as 801 violators were given temporary verbal and written warnings. While the remaining 10 violations netted static Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement.

"The violations that are prosecuted are visible violations, such as not wearing a helmet, using a brong muffler, not wearing a seat belt, vehicles that do not comply with the specifications," he explained.

He explained, Krakatau's safety operation aims to increase awareness in traffic, reduce violations and accidents and the fatality of accident victims.

"This operation was carried out for 14 days, from 7 to 202 February 2023 and took place throughout Indonesia," he added.

Yerru revealed, because the main objective of the operation was to raise awareness of motorists in traffic, traffic violators were only given warnings and education not to commit violations anymore.

"Yes, for now we are only giving verbal and written warnings and an appeal to always be orderly in traffic," he concluded. (*)
