Fishing Boats Laksana Jaya Shipwreck in the Sertung Island, Three Crews Evacuated by Joint SAR Team
Kupastuntas.co,
South Lampung - The joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team succeeded in evacuating
three crew members of the Laksana Jaya fishing boat who were stranded on
Sertung Island, Rajabasa District, South Lampung Regency, Indonesia after the
ship they were traveling on sank, on Wednesday (15/2/2023).
Head of
the South Lampung Air and Water Police, Iptu Fathul Arif said, the Laksana Jaya
fishing boat of the rampus type sailed from the Kalianda Bomb Pier to the
waters around Sertung Island, Rajabasa District, Monday (13/2/2023) at around
05.00 WIB.
"Then,
last Wednesday at around 10.00 WIB there was extreme weather. The ship decided to
anchor around Sertung Island. Then at around 11.00 WIB due to sea currents that
were too strong caused the ship's anchor to come off so the ship crashed to the
shore," said Arif, Thursday (16/2/2023).
The
Laksana Jaya fishing boat, captained by Sohari (35) and crew members Ramdani
(28), Sonjaya (30) and Rohidin (20) are all residents of the Pom Pier Complex
in Pesisir Village, Kalianda District.
Furthermore,
the entire crew decided to jump into the sea while the ship finally sank.
Shortly thereafter, other fishing boats passing by were fishing.
"The
victims asked the fishermen for help, then were taken to the edge of Sertung
Island. Given the small size of the ship, in the end only Sohari was able to
depart earlier to report the incident," continued Inspector Fathul Arif.
Upon
arrival at the Mount Botak area, Kalianda Sohari District, they got off and
contacted Aris to be picked up and returned to the Bomb Pier.
Then,
Sohari informed the management of the fishing cooperative, namely Sobri, and
asked for the evacuation of 3 of his colleagues who were still on Sertung
Island.
"This
information was reported to the South Lampung water and air police. Then on
Thursday (16/2/2023) around 06.30 WIB the joint team made efforts to evacuate
the victims," continued Arif.
Using the
RIB 02 ship owned by the National Search and Rescue Agency, at around 12.15 WIB
the team managed to evacuate the victims and dock safely in Muara Pilu
Bakauheni.
"Thank God, the three crew members of the Laksana Jaya
fishing boat were safe and then handed over to the family," he concluded.
