Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - The Ministry of Health recently reported findings of cases of acute kidney failure in children. Whereas previously, at the end of 2022 the cases with a death rate of 324 children had been declared resolved.

When questioned, Head of the Lampung Provincial Health Office, Reihana, said that until now his party had not received any reports of toddlers in Lampung affected or suspected of having kidney failure.

"Until now we haven't found any cases of kidney failure or any toddlers who have symptoms of kidney failure such as being unable to urinate or no urine. Hopefully no cases will be found again in Lampung," said Reihana, when questioned, Tuesday 14 February 2023.

Reihana continued, in order to anticipate the re-discovery of cases of acute kidney failure in children, her party will increase surveillance activities in all areas in Lampung.

"We will continue to carry out surveillance to anticipate kidney failure after cases are found again. The surveillance team will carry out monitoring and immediately provide a report," he explained.

He also explained, his party had collaborated with the Center for Drug and Food Control to carry out supervision of drugs that had the chemical compounds Ethylene Glycol and Diethylene Glycol that exceeded the threshold.

"If indeed there is an indication and distribution ban from the Ministry of Health, then we will immediately seal it and withdraw it from circulation," he explained.

Director of the Abdul Moeloek Regional General Hospital, Lukman Pura explained, kidney failure in both children and adults can be identified by characteristics such as an infection in the sewer.

"Such as infection then coughing and other metabolic diseases. So we have to be vigilant where this vigilance is the main thing. For this prevention is early detection and fast access to health care facilities," he said.

Therefore, he appealed to the people of Lampung who have symptoms of acute kidney failure to immediately go to the nearest health care facility so they can be treated properly.

"So we appeal to the public if symptoms of kidney failure are found, immediately go to the nearest health facility so that it can be handled quickly and seek treatment quickly," he said. (*)
