The Capacity of Bakung Landfill Area in Bandar Lampung Indonesia is Estimated to Last Another 5 Years
Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung - The Bandar Lampung City
Environment Service estimates that the Bakung landfill area located in Teluk
Betung Barat District, will only be able to accommodate residents' waste for
another five years.
Head of the Bandar Lampung City Environment Service, Budiman
P. Mega, said the Bakung landfill area, which has been in operation for a long
time, reaches 14 hectares.
At present, the Bakung landfill area is full or overloaded
with the waste that local residents produce every day.
"With that land area, it is likely that it will only be
used for another 3 to 5 years," said Budiman, when asked for information,
Monday (30/1/2023).
With the Bakung landfill area full, the Lampung Province will
create a Regional landfill area which will accommodate waste from three areas,
namely Bandar Lampung, Metro, and Central Lampung.
The planned new regional landfill area is located in Tanjung
Sari Village, Natar District, South Lampung Regency with an area of up to 20
hectares.
"So with the province that will make this regional landfill
area we are very supportive, while the location is affordable with our
fleet," he said.
Budiman admitted that currently, 800 tons of waste are
disposed of at the Bakung landfill area every day.
With it will be full in five more years. The municipal
government is also not standing still, where it is currently cooperating with a
third party in the management of the Bakung landfill area.
"We are collaborating with a third party to handle the
full Bakung landfill area, namely WIKA Corporation, but we also do not rule out
other opportunities for those who want to manage the landfill area," he
explained.
The collaboration will he explained, because his party
realizes that in order to manage this waste there must be a third party.
"Because the conditions for making a new landfill area
in Bandar Lampung itself are not possible. Because there is no more land,"
he said.
However, he said, at the end of 2022 there will be an
addition of 8 fleets, while this year there will be an addition of 10 fleets.
"This means that every year there are additions. So
that our total fleet is 114 units," he stated. (*)
