1,824 Lampung Residents Infected with ISPA, Dominated by Children

Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung - The Lampung Province Health Service (Dinkes) noted that up to now 1,824 residents have contracted Acute Respiratory Infection or ISPA.

"In the period from January to July there were 1,824 people affected by ISPA. ISPA is characterized by the appearance of coughs and colds accompanied by other symptoms," said Acting Head of the Lampung Provincial Health Service, Effendi Suhaimi, Wednesday (6/9/2023).

Effendi explained that in West Lampung there were 2 people with ISPA sufferers aged over 60 years, 3 people aged 9 to 60 years and 6 people aged 5 to 9 years.

In Pringsewu, there were 5 people with ISPA aged over 60 years, 141 people aged 9 to 60 years and 14 people aged 5 to 9 years. North Lampung aged 5 to 9 years there are 2 people.

"Furthermore, in Bandar Lampung there are 298 people over 60 years old, 317 people aged 9 to 60 years and 368 people aged 5 to 9 years," he said.

Then, in Way Kanan there were 15 people aged over 60 years, aged 9 to 60 years there were 112 people and aged 5 to 9 years there were 3 people. In Tanggamus aged 5 to 9 years there are 2 people.

"There are 3 people with ISPA in Pesawaran, aged over 60 years, 31 people aged 9 to 60 years and 73 people aged 5 to 9 years. In Metro, aged over 60 years, there are 3 people, aged 9 to 60 years, there is 1 person and "There are 8 people aged 5 to 9 years," he explained.

Furthermore, in Mesuji there was 1 person with ARI aged 5 to 9 years. In East Lampung there are 10 people with ISPA aged over 60 years, 15 people aged 9 to 60 years and 5 to 9 years old there are 34 people.

"In North Lampung, there are 352 people aged 5 to 9 years affected by ISPA, and on the West Coast there is 1 person aged over 60 years, 3 people aged 9 to 60 years and 1 person aged 5 to 9 years," he explained.

Effendi said that ISPA is a respiratory disease that usually occurs during the transition season, so the public is asked to continue to be alert.

"ARI is a respiratory problem that often appears during the transition season. So reduce activities outside the home, and if you do activities outside, use a mask and drink lots of water to maintain your immune system," he explained.

He explained, to prevent ISPA, people can wash their hands regularly, cover their mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing, and avoid contact with sick people.

"Then get enough rest, make sure your fluid intake is met so you don't get dehydrated and drink enough water," he added.

Director of Abdul Moeloek Hospital, Lukman Pura, added that the current transition season will trigger an increase in ISPA sufferers.

"ARI is common. Under certain conditions there is an excessive increase. Usually from 1 to 2 from 10 to 20. Usually in certain periods like now because there is the influence of El Nino," he explained.

He explained, ARI is an infection that occurs in the respiratory tract, both the upper and lower respiratory tract. This infection can cause symptoms of cough, runny nose, and fever.

"People must maintain their health by avoiding the heat, wearing a mask if they have a cold, and maintaining stamina, getting enough water, enough fruit and getting enough rest. This condition could occur in the next 2 to 3 months," he said.

However, Lukman claims that currently there has been no increase in the number of ISPA patients undergoing treatment at Abdul Moeloek Hospital.

"In Abdul Moeloek there is no excessive increase. Usually they go to Abdul Moeloek if their condition is serious. But in principle we are ready to carry out treatment and treatment," he added. (*)
