Sixty-four Cultural Heritage of Lampung Defined as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Indonesia

Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - A total of 64 Lampung cultural heritages have been designated as Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTBI) from 2013 to 2023.

Head of the Culture Division at the Lampung Province Education and Culture Service, Heni Astuti, said that the latest was the designation of eight Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritages from Lampung Province.

Eight Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritages include, Takhi Batin, Tukhun Mandei, Lappung Classical Guitar Excerpts, Cangget Bakha, Takhi Khudat Lappung, Pekhos Masin, Takhi Pikhing Khua Belas, and Takhi Bujantan Budamping.

"Alhamdulillah, thanks to your prayers and support, Thursday 31 August 2023 evening, eight cultural heritages of Lampung Province were designated as National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, through the Directorate General of Culture, Directorate of Cultural Protection," said Heni, when confirmed , Sunday 3 September 2023.

Heni revealed that previously in 2022 the Lampung Province Education and Culture Office together with related stakeholders proposed 30 Lampung cultural heritages to the Ministry of Education and Culture to be designated as Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritage.

"Last year's proposal was for 30 Lampung cultural heritages. After going through four verification trials and field reviews, only eight passed," he said.

According to him, the designation of Takhi Batin as Indonesia's Intangible Cultural Heritage is also an important milestone in protecting and appreciating the rich cultural heritage owned by the Sai Batin Community which thrives on Bumi Sekala Bekhak.

With this latest designation, said Heni, the total cultural heritage of Lampung that has been designated as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Indonesia from 2013 to 2023 is 64 of Indonesia's Intangible Cultural Heritage.

"The Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritage of Lampung Province which was first designated was Tapis in 2013. In 2014, 2015, 2016 there were five each, in 2017 there were three, in 2018 there were 13, in 2019 there were 17, in 2020 there were three, "In 2021 and 2022 there will be two each, and in 2023 eight will be determined," he explained.

He said that efforts to preserve culture through the designation of Indonesia's Intangible Cultural Heritage were also one of Lampung Governor Arinal Djunaidi's efforts to care for local culture and develop the arts, in accordance with the governor's 33 work agenda.

This cultural heritage designation is not only a formal recognition of the importance of Indonesia's Intangible Cultural Heritage, but also a joint commitment between the governments.
