Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - To educate novice voters, the General Election Commission (KPU) of Bandar Lampung City held a Rank 1 Game Show at SMA Al-Azhar 3 Sepang Jaya, Labuhan Ratu District, Wednesday 30 August 2023, or electoral district 4 Bandar Lampung (Labuhan Ratu, Kedaton and Way Halim).

According to the KPU Commissioner for Community Participation Division, Hamami, Game Show Ranking 1 is an educational, literacy and socialization effort about elections for first-time voters. He added, in the 2024 election, first-time voters will use their voting rights for the first time. Therefore, this socialization is carried out in unconventional ways.

"Hopefully through this ranking 1 activity the message of the 2024 elections can be conveyed," he said.

He revealed that the Permanent Voter List in Bandar Lampung totaled 790,125 voters. Of that number, 35 percent are first-time voters from the millennial generation and generation Z.

Therefore, to reduce the number of white voters (Golput) among first-time voters, the Bandar Lampung KPU continues to try to carry out various ways of socializing the importance of using voting rights.

"We share our activities on various platforms and involve social media activities in order to reduce the abstention rate among first-time voters," he said.

Meanwhile, the Principal of Al-Azhar 3 High School, Ice Rosina Sari, welcomed the choice of the school she leads as a place to socialize new voters.

"Hopefully this will motivate students as first time voters to use their voting rights properly," he said.

Apart from that, this provides an opportunity for insight into elections for students so that during the 2024 election they will exercise their right to vote and not abstain. "Our hope is that this activity will continue, because in the next 5 years they will be the next generation of national leaders," he concluded.

Game Show Rank 1 was attended by 105 participants from representatives of 7 classes at SMA Al-Azhar 3. The winner of rank 1 was Handika Firmansyah Class 12 Science 5.

Previously, Bandar Lampung City was visited by the 2024 Election Carnival. Tapis Berseri City is the last point in Lampung Province, namely Bandar Lampung City. The Kirab was held by the City Government and KPU Bandar Lampung on the City Government's lawn, Monday 28 August 2023. The activity was filled with the handing over of the Kirab flag.

The 2024 Election Carnival was enlivened by the presence of representatives from 18 political parties registered at KPU Bandar Lampung.

Just for the record, the 2024 Election Carnival has entered Lampung since July 17 2023, starting from Mesuji. After that, the carnival continues to Tulang Bawang, West Tulangbawang, Central Lampung, East Lampung, Metro, and Bandar Lampung which is the final point.

On that occasion, Mayor of Bandar Lampung, Eva Dwiana, appealed to all people not to fall for hoaxes and not be easily provoked.

"We appeal to the public not to be provoked, not to listen to hoaxes. If everything can run well, God willing, the city of Bandar Lampung will be conducive and the results will be good," he said.

Eva said that the 2024 General Election is a national agenda to realize the election of leaders and representatives of the people, which will be carried out directly, publicly, freely, confidentially, honestly and fairly in accordance with Law no. 7 of 2017.

"We all certainly hope that the general elections in Indonesia, especially in the city of Bandar Lampung, can run well and be conducive," he said.

According to him, the Bandar Lampung City Government and its staff also admitted that they strongly support all stages of the elections carried out by the KPU, based on the regulations that have been established.

"Because holding elections is not only the task of the KPU and its staff, but also the task of all of us together and all elements of society to participate and make the election a success to uphold democratic values," he said.

In the same place, KPU Chairman of Bandar Lampung City Dedy Triadi expressed his gratitude to the City Government and also the provincial KPU for facilitating this event.

"And indeed during our election carnival there were activities that were facilitated by the Bandar Lampung city government," said Dedy.

He said, the purpose of this carnival was to socialize the stages of the election and also inform the public regarding political party participants with their serial numbers.

"Also, our socialization activities in the Dapil will be carried out by PPK and PPS with the target of first-time voters and exciting people. For our activities related to literacy socialization and voter education, it will continue," he explained.

The election procession in Bandar Lampung will be held for one week. On September 2, 2023, there will be a democracy fun bike from Bung Karno UMKM Park to Tugu Adipura and back to Bung Karno UMKM Park.

The peak of the 2024 Election Carnival will be held on Sunday, September 3 2023, there will be a healthy democracy walk. (*)
