Agustini said, rice production in the first planting season of October 2022 - March 2023 totaled 924.17 tonnes, produced from seven sub-districts, namely Kedamaian, Kemiling, Langkapura, Rajabasa, TanjungHappy, Sukarame and Sukabumi sub-districts.

"Meanwhile, total production in the first planting season in 2021-2022 only reached 624.8 tons from seven different sub-districts namely Kedamaian, Tanjung Karang Pusat, Kemiling, Langkapura, Rajabasa, TanjungHappy, and Sukarame," he explained, when met at the local service office, Tuesday 15 August 2023.

He admitted that the agricultural land in Bandar Lampung City was very limited, in contrast to the regency area. And there are several districts that are not recorded as rice production.

Agustin said that the results for the second planting season in April - September 2023 could not be reported yet.

Meanwhile in facing the dry season or El Nino, Agustin said his party had made anticipatory efforts for farmers.

He has also held meetings with field officers to provide guidance so that farmers whose land is still vacant can speed up the planting process.

"So we had a meeting with field officers to deal with El Nino, which is expected to peak in August, to urge farmers if they can still plant, right from now on. So what our farmers usually do is sometimes plant at the end of the year, now we have to hurry. planted," he added.

According to him, even though there is no budget for farmers affected by El-Nino, they are still trying to help the community.

Head of the Food Crops and Horticulture Division of the Bandar Lampung Agriculture Office, Riana Turika added, even though with limited land, his party always tries to provide guidance to the field.

"Appeal that if there are signs of a disease attack, act quickly and report it to the service. Then for land that can still be planted, be it vegetables, rice, or corn, so that it can be planted quickly," he said.

He said the impact of El Nino will definitely greatly affect water availability. Moreover, he said that rice field irrigation in Bandar Lampung only exists in Rajabasa, while other rice fields are rainfed, which only rely on rainwater or water pumps. (*)
