Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - Lampung Province is entrusted with performing a colossal dance at the momentum of the Republic of Indonesia's 78th Independence Day Commemoration Ceremony at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on the upcoming 17 August 2023.

The type of dance that will be performed by participants from Lampung Province is the cetik fan-rolling dance or commonly known as the melinting dance.

The Head of the Culture Sector of the Education and Culture Office of Lampung Province, Heni Astuti revealed, the melinting dance performance involving as many as 150 people was at the request of the Central Government to the Provincial Government of Lampung.

"There are implementations in the morning or evening, for this year we can get them in the morning (the ceremony of raising the red and white heritage flag). This is a very precious moment," he said, Wednesday 19 July 2023.

Regarding preparation, said Heni, so far it has been good. In fact, his party assigned the Tourism Office and the East Lampung Education and Culture Office to continue to monitor the preparations.

“The dance studio is from East Lampung Regency, so all the dancers are from there. We are preparing clothes and all kinds of things," he explained.

Previously, Sultan Ratu Melinting Rizal Isma'il explained that the melinting dance is a typical Lampung art dance originating from the Melinting Kingdom in eastern Lampung.

This dance, he continued, is one of the oldest dances in Lampung Province.

In addition, he said that in 1958, the dance received many improvements and began to be open to the public.

“It can be done by local people other than the descendents of the Melinting Keratuan aristocracy. Gradually, the melinting dance became one of Lampung's typical folk dances and still persists today," he said. (*)
