Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - Several staple goods traders at the Way Halim market, Bandar Lampung City, complained that there were not enough buyers. This is due to an almost complete increase in prices.

Based on Kupastuntas.co monitoring at the Way Halim market in Bandar Lampung, one of the traders, Lusi explained, almost all basic necessities had increased, including onions, chilies, vegetables, spices, eggs and others.

"Everything went up, shallots, chilies and vegetables like cucumber, eggplant, Oyong all went up," said Lusi, when interviewed, on Wednesday 14 June 2023.

He also explained that there were several vegetables whose prices had increased drastically, more than half their initial price, one of which was cucumber, which originally cost Rp. 5,000, now it is Rp. 15,000.

Lusi revealed that the increase was due to the small stock of goods on the market. It is also possible that ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha and the hot weather factor will also affect farmers.

"The supply is small, then the weather is also dry, right before this big day it has gone up, moreover the big day is getting more influential," he said.

As a result of this, people's purchasing power is reduced, so that traders feel at a loss and many stocks are rotten due to the lack of consumers.

"Yes, there have been fewer buyers, who previously bought a kilo, to a quarter or an ounce. It's a loss, there are lots of rotten ends," he said.

He hoped the government would stabilize the price of basic necessities as before.

"Stable as usual, ask for help to stabilize it, sorry for the common people," he said.

Meanwhile, in the same market, Tri, one of the butchers, admitted that the price of meat did not increase and even predicted that it would remain stable until the upcoming Eid al-Adha.

"Stable, from the beginning it was stable, there was no price increase," said Tri.

However, even though meat prices are stable, he shares the same feelings with other traders for the reduced buyers.

"For enthusiasts it is somewhat reduced because maybe more people need it," he said.

Even though the consumer is reduced he is still grateful, he also always has several regular customers every day even though his purchasing power is also decreasing. He also hopes that all prices can be stable as before, even if it is possible, the price of meat will also decrease.

"Just be grateful, because we already have customers, even though it's reduced, those who previously bought 10 kg are now only 8 kg," he said.

"The hope is that it can be as stable as before, the buyer is stable, the price is stable, it can be adjusted," he concluded. (*)
