University of Lampung Political and Government Observer, Bendi Juantara, said that Rahmat Mirzani Djausal's presence in the candidate exchange for mayor of Bandar Lampung could represent the people who want new changes.

"Opportunities are still very open, in fact, with so many choices of candidate leaders, the community has many choices to determine which one is the best," said Bendi. Tuesday, May 6, 2023.

Bendi said that Bandar Lampung is the epicenter of development in Lampung Province. For this reason, it is very interesting to wait for ideas, ideas, strategic steps and development roadmaps from new prospective leaders who are emerging at this time.

According to him, Mirzani Djausal is one of the best cadres in the Gerindra Party at the moment, so it is only natural that the best cadres of political parties take a strategic role in the contest for power. By daring to nominate themselves, the party also succeeded in conducting regeneration of its cadres.

"It remains only now to approach the party and Mirzani's figure to the public," he said.

He explained that there are many strategies and methods that will be used by each candidate to get votes in the Pilkada contest.

“The other Bandar Lampung mayoral candidates can still get the same opportunity. The current mayor of Bandar Lampung, Eva Dwiana, is also predicted to still have quite a big chance," he said.

He explained that individual voters can directly assess their leaders from the rationality of policies and development that has been implemented and future development projections.

"If the people are satisfied with the policies under the leadership of the current mayor, then Eva Dwiana's election will be open again. However, if the satisfaction and trust of the people of Bandar Lampung is not maximized, then alternative figures who have fresher ideas are very likely to be considered by the community," he explained.

He also reminded that direct elections automatically require large funding, especially in increasing the popularity and electability of candidates. However, positive campaigns and support for quality elections must continue to be voiced.

"So that candidates and voters will have the same attitude not to take the pragmatic and transactional route. However, to push for more substantial and programmatic aspects," he added. (*)
