Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - The Narcotics Unit of the West Lampung Police revealed the existence of a cannabis field in the Talang Jawa Hamlet Coffee Plantation, Kiwis Raya Village, South Warkuk Ranau District, South Oku Regency.

West Lampung Police Chief, AKBP Heri Sugeng Priyantho, through the Narcotics Unit Head, Iptu Jhoni Apriwansyah, said the disclosure of the cannabis field was the result of an investigation into the case of the arrest of a young man who was caught carrying cannabis.

Initially, said Jhoni, his party succeeded in securing a young man with the initials AA 24 years old, a resident of Belt Empat Village, Way Kunang District, North Lampung Regency on Thursday 4 May 2023 because he was caught carrying cannabis-type narcotics in a package.

"When we conducted a search, we found a clear plastic bag containing cannabis in it and another white package covered in clear duct tape which also contained cannabis inside," said Iptu Jhoni, Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Then his party immediately conducted an interrogation of the perpetrator regarding where he got the illicit goods, because his party suspected that there was still other evidence hidden by the perpetrator.

"Then we conducted an investigation and the perpetrator admitted that there was still other evidence that was hidden, namely a type of cannabis plant in a coffee garden, to be precise in Talang Jawa Hamlet, Kiwis Raya Village, South Warkuk Ranau District, South Oku Regency," he explained.

After receiving an acknowledgment from the alleged perpetrator, personnel from the West Lampung Police Satreskoba went straight to the intended location, then on Friday 5 May 2023 at around 11.45 AM joint officers managed to arrive at the location and immediately carry out a check.

"From the location the team managed to secure evidence of 16 cannabis plant seeds in black polybags and 29 cannabis plant seeds, then the perpetrators along with the evidence were immediately taken to the West Lampung Police to carry out further investigation development," he added.

The perpetrator is proven to have committed the crime of abuse of cannabis narcotics as referred to in article 114 paragraph 1 or article 111 paragraph 1 of RI Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, which is punishable by imprisonment for a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 12 years. (*)
