Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung - Hundreds of masses who are members of the Lampung People's Struggle Center held an action in commemoration of National Labor Day at the Adipura Bandar Lampung monument roundabout and the Lampung Provincial Governor's office. Monday, May 1, 2023.

The crowd of around 600 consists of various trade union organizations such as the Indonesian trade union confederation, the Federation of Indonesian Metalworkers Unions, the Indonesian Student Union, the Labor Party, the Federation of Food and Beverage Trade Unions, and the Federation of Forestry, Industry, General Affairs, Timber, Agriculture and Plantation. In this action, the workers brought a number of demands, including:

1. Reject the Omnibuslaw

2. Revoke the Job Creation Perpu

3. Revoke Permenaker Number 5 of 2023

4. Eliminate contract work and outsourcing systems

5. Reject the politics of low wages

6. Stop layoffs

7. Stop union busting

8. Realize transformative social protection for the people.

9. Stop the repressiveness of the Myanmar workers

10. Rehire the labor activists Coca Cola, Danone Aqua, and Phillips Seafoods Indonesia who were laid off unilaterally.

Quoted from various media, the Chairman of KSPI Lampung, Sulaiman Ibrahim said, the action that was held was a form of resistance by the workers for the many violations committed by the company.

"We must continue to fight against expressing workers' unrest, enforce the rules, no more violations, we can also fight if there is injustice," said Sulaiman.

Sulaiman also invited workers to fight for workers' rights and freedom together. This can be started by improving and changing the regulatory system which has the potential to violate and threaten workers' welfare.

"We must jointly fight for the interests of the workers, provide firmness to those who break the rules that have the potential to threaten the welfare of workers," he continued.

Chairman of the West Sumbagsel Regional Food and Beverage Trade Union Federation, Ari Putra Wijaya, said that today's workers' welfare is not good. The reason is that with the existence of the work copyright bill there are articles that are considered problematic in it which can make the welfare of workers increasingly threatened.

"Don't expect that with the Job Creation Law, workers will become permanent employees, if a worker only becomes an offsoursing employee then at any time he will be laid off unilaterally and a contract employee will not get a pension on his master's day. We hope the workers for the government to revoke the Copyright Law work," he said.

Meanwhile, the Bandar Lampung Police Chief, Kombes Ino Harianto, revealed that there were 600 workers who carried out the mass action in an orderly and safe manner.

"The activity went well, safely, smoothly and in an orderly manner. All aspirations were conveyed in an orderly manner and followed up by meeting with the Head of the Lampung Service," said Ino.

His party also guarded the action this time by deploying 500 personnel. While the workers who took to the streets consisted of elements of workers and students to convey their aspirations. (*)
