Because of Drugs, Two High School Students in Metro City Are Arrested by Police

Kupastuntas.co, Metro - The Metro Police Narcotics Research Unit has arrested two students who were involved in the abuse of synthetic marijuana, aka gorilla tobacco, or what is known in the market as sinte.

The two underage students are known to be high school students in Metro City. Both are also known to be residents of East Metro District.

Head of the Metro Police AKBP Heri Sulistyo Nugroho through the IPTU Narcotics Unit Head AE Siregar revealed that the two students arrested had the initials AKP, 16 years old, and SAP, 16 years old. The two were arrested while hanging out at a cafe in East Metro District.

"On Wednesday 26 April 2023 at around 21.00 WIB, members of the Metro Police Narcotics Unit arrested two men with the initials AKP and SAP at a cafe called Coffe Republik Rakyat," said Siregar when questioned, Friday (28/4/ 2023).

During the search, the police found a package of gorilla tobacco hidden by one of the suspects.

"During a search of the suspect's body and clothes, items were found in the form of a clear plastic clip containing leaves suspected of being gorilla tobacco or synthetic narcotics weighing 0.79 grams," he explained.

Siregar said that based on the results of the examination, the two high school students admitted that they received a packet of synthetic marijuana from someone for IDR 50,000.

"They are still underage and their status is as students, studying at a high school in Metro. From their confession they bought IDR 50,000 from someone who is currently on the Metro Police Drug Sat Personnel Wanted List," he said.

Both admitted to the police that they would consume the gorilla tobacco in one of their homes. Furthermore, the Police will seek legal proceedings according to the applicable procedures.

"From their confession, the goods will be consumed at the home of one of them. Regarding rehabilitation efforts, of course we will process them according to the applicable procedures," he said.

Now the two high school students are being held at the Metro Police Headquarters along with their evidence.

Both are threatened with Article 112 paragraph (1) of RI Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years and a minimum fine of IDR 800 million. (*)
