Eid Homecoming Travelers are Urged to Use Public Transportation With Road-Worthy Stickers
Kupastuntas.co, Metro - The peak of the homecoming flow at
the Main Terminal Type B Mulyojati, West Metro is predicted to occur from D-3
Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah. Arrivals and departures of visitors through the
terminal are also expected to increase after the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore,
for the safety of travelers, they are encouraged to use transportation that has
been installed with a road-worthy sticker from the government.
This was stated by the Head of the Main Terminal, Type B
Mulyojati, West Metro, Dwi Hera Pratiwi.
"If travelers use public transportation services,
prioritize choosing a fleet that has been affixed with a roadworthy sticker by
officers. Meanwhile, travelers using private or two-wheeled vehicles are
expected to be even more careful," she concluded.
He revealed, based on monitoring of homecoming traffic in
the terminal area, it was still relatively quiet. He predicts, the increase
will start to occur D-3 Eid.
"Today the monitoring of homecoming flows is still
quiet and there hasn't been a significant increase because the National
Holidays have been changed. We predict the peak of homecoming flows will occur
three to two days before Eid or to be exact April 19 to 20 2023," she said
to the media crew, Sunday (9/4/2023).
In order to anticipate the surge in travelers, her party has
prepared additional personnel to be on standby in the terminal environment.
"Of course we have anticipated that besides adding
personnel, we will also be assisted by the Metro City Transportation Agency in
managing traffic. So for this year's Eid homecoming, departures and arrivals at
the Mulyojati terminal are expected to increase compared to last year.
Considering the Covid-19 pandemic has been completed and enter the endemic
masses," she explained.
The woman who is familiarly called Hera said that the
majority of travelers came from the island of Java. He also appealed to people
who want to go home using public transportation to choose a fleet that has a
road-worthy sticker attached.
"The majority of travelers who come to Metro City come
from Central Java, especially Yogyakarta and East Java. We urge travelers to
prioritize safety and manage the time in carrying out homecoming because this
year it is predicted that the enthusiasm of the community for carrying out Eid
homecoming will be very high," she said.
Separately, the Head of the Transportation Service (Dishub),
Helmy Zain through the Chief Test Coordinator, Sopian Mega explained that his
party had conducted a road-worthy vehicle test at the type B Mulyojati
terminal. In that test, the majority of vehicles were found not to have met the
road-worthiness requirements.
"On average, a number of vehicles do not meet the
requirements, such as the validity period has expired or is no longer valid. So
for this ramp check it is carried out for 13 days and there are several
elements that must be obeyed in each vehicle, so that it can operate in the
homecoming flow starting from checking administrative elements and elements
technical," he said.
Sopian revealed, the inspection included a driver's license
(SIM) to a light fire extinguisher (apar), which must be completed by transport
drivers and their fleet.
"In the administrative inspection, then the technical
inspection, namely the lighting system, brakes, exhaust gas, tire condition,
and vehicle physics. Then inspection of supporting elements such as spare
tires, jacks, glass breaker, safety triangle and fire extinguishers, " he
explained.
He admitted that the Transportation Agency has been
intensely carrying out road-worthiness checks on people's transport vehicles.
Sopian also said that each bus fleet that passed the ramp check was affixed
with a special Road Transport Traffic (LLAJ) sticker.
"Actually, we carry out vehicle feasibility checks
every day. But this time, a team of vehicle testers went directly to the
location to make it even more intensive ahead of Eid," he said.
"Buses that have passed the ramp check will be affixed
with a special sticker for the LLAJ safety inspection. We urge the public who
are going on an Eid homecoming trip to choose a fleet that has this special
sticker, meaning that the bus has passed a series of due diligence tests,"
he stated. (*)
