State Electricity Company Opens Collaborative Development of Nine Geothermal Working Areas
Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - The State Electricity Company opened a collaboration in building nine Geothermal Working Areas with an estimated total capacity of 260 megawatts.
Main Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo said, this step is a form of full support to the Government in accelerating the energy transition in order to achieve the net zero emission target in 2060.
There are 9 geothermal locations that will soon be developed by the State Electricity Company, namely Tulehu in Central Maluku, Atadei in East Nusa Tenggara, Songa Wayaua in South Halmahera, Tangkuban Perahu in West Java, Ungaran in Central Java, Kepahiang in Bengkulu, Oka Ile Ange in Nusa Tenggara. East Southeast, Mount Sirung in East Nusa Tenggara, Lake Ranau in South Sumatra and West Lampung.
"In total, from the nine locations whose potential we have studied, it can reach 260 megawatts. In the first phase of the procurement, we opened WKP cooperation for development in Tulehu, Songa Wayaua, Atadei and Tangkuban Perahu," said Darmawan.
Darmawan explained, the State Electricity Company as the holder of a Geothermal Permit in Indonesia has received a mandate from law to develop geothermal potential as well as possible. At present the State Electricity Company has prepared a detailed 3G (Geology, Geochemistry and Geophysics) study for the development of a Geothermal Working Area.
"The State Electricity Company is committed to supporting the energy transition program through geothermal development. To accelerate our geothermal potential, the State Electricity Company also continues to collaborate more broadly," said Darmawan.
Darmawan added, collaboration is an important key to developing geothermal potential in various regions. This concerns feasibility studies, construction of geothermal facilities and conversion of energy from geothermal sources.
"Through this kind of cooperation, later we will find collaboration of experts, knowledge sharing, and opportunities to increase the green energy portfolio together," said Darmawan.
For this reason, Darmawan invites all interested parties including local companies, foreign companies and domestic and foreign investors to become strategic partners of the State Electricity Company in developing Geothermal Working Areas in Indonesia.
"We at the State Electricity Company open the widest possible collaboration for all parties who are interested to join. Here we will not only build a mutually beneficial business together but also produce energy that is environmentally friendly," concluded Darmawan. (*)
