Officials - Civil Servants Prohibited from Breaking the Fast Together, Governor of Lampung Issues a circular
Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - The Provincial Government of Lampung through the Governor immediately issued a circular following up on President Jokowi instructions asking officials and civil servants to cancel joint iftar activities during the month of Ramadan 1444 Hijriah/2023 AD.
The prohibition was stated in a letter signed by the Secretary of the Cabinet of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 38/Seskab/DKK/03/2023 regarding directions related to holding iftar together. The letter was signed by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung on 21 March 2023.
There are three points of content in President Jokowi's directive letter. First, the handling of Covid-19 is currently in a transition period from a pandemic to an endemic one, so caution is still needed.
Second, in this regard, the holding of breaking the fast together in the holy month of Ramadan 1444 Hijriah must be abolished. Finally, the Minister of Home Affairs must follow up on the above directives to governors, regents and mayors.
Assistant I for Administration and Welfare of the Lampung Provincial Government, Qodratul Ikhwan, said that his party was ready to follow every policy set by the central government and would soon issue a circular.
"Regarding the Presidential Decree which prohibits officials and the State Civil Apparatus from holding an iftar together. Of course, we will immediately follow up with a circular letter from the Governor of Lampung so that it becomes a reference," said Qodratul, Thursday, March 23, 2023.
Qodratul reminded the general public who wish to hold iftar together to continue to implement strict health protocols to prevent transmission of Covid-19.
"The point is we have to stay alert so that everyone follows the health protocol rules. Because currently the handling of Covid-19 is still in a transitional period from a pandemic to endemic," he said.
Qodratul also asked restaurateurs to maintain the implementation of health protocols such as preparing a hand washing area or hand sanitizer.
"We must work together to always implement health protocols so that the handling of Covid-19, especially in Lampung, is maintained and we all remain vigilant," he explained.
Secretary to Commission V of the Regional People's Legislative Council of Lampung Province, Mikdar Ilyas asked the State Civil Apparatuses in Lampung Province to interpret the prohibition on breaking the fast as conveyed by President Jokowi positively.
According to him, even though currently the transmission of Covid-19 has begun to decrease, this must still be anticipated considering the fluctuating spread of Covid-19.
"Of course this must be addressed wisely, everyone must remain vigilant because the fluctuating transmission of Covid-19 can sometimes be mild, sometimes it can be high again," he said.
He reminded the public to continue to implement health protocols and complete vaccinations. “Currently, many people are doing their activities without wearing masks. Health protocol discipline must be upheld. And vaccination must be done because it is important, "he explained.
A State Civil Apparatus in the Lampung Provincial Government, BT, 38 years old, admits that he is ready to follow whatever the regional government decides. "Of course we follow what the leadership says as far as things that will have a good impact in the future," he said.
However, he considered that currently the public and the State Civil Apparatus must be able to carry out their activities without any restrictions.
"We have all been vaccinated, so we can carry out our usual activities while still implementing health protocols. But once again, if this is for good, I am personally ready to follow it," he said.
Based on data released by the Lampung Provincial Health Office, to date there have been 76,981 patients confirmed positive for Covid-19.
Of these, 72,616 people were declared cured and 4,214 people died.
The Acting Regional Secretary of Bandar Lampung City, Khaidarmansyah, revealed that his party had not implemented the directive to eliminate joint iftar for State Civil Apparatuses within the Bandar Lampung City Government.
His party is still waiting for a circular letter from the Governor of Lampung to make further derivatives. "We are waiting for the governor's circular letter for the regent/mayor first, then we will make a derivative of the mayor's circular letter," he said, Thursday, March 23, 2023.
He revealed, in principle the Bandar Lampung Municipal Government is ready to implement the regulations set by the Central Government. Currently, his party is just waiting for the governor's circular letter to be made derivative and implemented. (*)
