Indonesian Metro Police Arrest Counterfeit Money Dealers

Kupastuntas.co, Metro - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Police, Lampung Indonesia has arrested a suspected counterfeit money dealer from Bandar Lampung City. The perpetrators are known to produce counterfeit money themselves.

The head of the Metro Police criminal investigation unit IPTU Mangara Panjaitan revealed that the suspect is Dedi Apriyadi (49) a resident of Kapten  Abdul Haq Street Environment II, Rajabasa Village, Rajabasa District, Bandar Lampung City.

"We took the suspect into custody on Sunday 5 March 2023 at 21.00 PM. When we received information from the public, we immediately conducted an investigation and secured the person concerned," said Mangara, Friday (10/3/2023).

The suspect, Dedi Apriyadi, was arrested around the Mulyojati Main Terminal area, West Metro District. While being chased by the police, the suspect threw away the counterfeit money evidence.

"When the chase was about to be arrested, the suspect was seen throwing away fake hundred thousand bills. Then the Metro Police team conducted a search of the suspect," he added.

During the arrest, the police found 29 counterfeit notes in the IDR 100,000 bill. Then during a search of the suspect's house, officers found several tools for making counterfeit money.

"Apart from that, there was also a wallet, 2 glue sticks of various colors, an iron ruler, a cutter knife, masking tape, a marker, two pieces of ceramic and one clear glass," he explained.

Now the suspect and his evidence are being held at the Metro Police Headquarters, under the threat of Article 36 paragraph (2) RI Law No. 7 of 2011 concerning Currency. (*)
