Kupastuntas.co, West Coast - Due to heavy rains that flushed parts of Pesisir Barat District of Lampung Province, a natural landslide occurred in Penengahan Village, Lemong District, as a result of which traffic from the Pesisir Barat direction to Bengkulu and vice versa was completely paralyzed.

The Pesisir Barat Police Chief AKBP Alsyahendra through the Pesisir Utara Police Chief AKP Heri Oktarino explained to Kupas TV that the incident occurred on Tuesday 28 February 2023 in the early morning, or to be more precise around 03:00 in the morning western Indonesian time.

"Shortly after receiving information about the accident, members immediately moved to inspect the location of the landslide that occurred," said the Kapolsek, Tuesday 28 February 2023 morning.

AKP Heri explained, the cause of the landslides was the relatively high rainfall in the local area from night to early morning, causing landslides to cover the entire road that connects Lampung and Bengkulu Provinces.

"We immediately responded quickly to the incident and immediately coordinated with related agencies such as the PUPR Service and the Regional Disaster Management Agency or BPBD Pesisir Barat Regency to deploy heavy equipment to evacuate landslide material which is still covering the road," he said.

Until this news is made, the evacuation process is still being carried out by dropping heavy equipment at the location, it is estimated that the traffic flow can return in a few hours.

Based on information collected by Kupas TV in the field, the landslide that occurred caused quite a long traffic jam, because many vehicles were going from Lampung to Bengkulu and vice versa, they had to wait for the evacuation process to finish so they could pass. (*)
