Kupastuntas.co, South Lampung - The South Lampung Police Narcotics Research Unit arrested a cannabis courier with the initials IS (17) at the Bakauheni Port Regular Terminal, on Saturday (18/2/2023) around 21.30 PM.

South Lampung Police Narcotics Unit Head, AKP Andri Gustami explained, the IS suspect was secured in the Bakauheni Port Regular Terminal area when he was about to cross as a pedestrian passenger.

The arrest was made when a member of the Police conducted an inspection of IS who was carrying 2 large boxes of luggage.

"The two boxes were put in a green sack and contained a total of 13 packages of cannabis," said AKP Andri, Thursday (23/2/2023).

During interrogation, IS, who is still a student from Sosopan District, Padang Lawas Regency, West Sumatra, admitted that he brought the goods from Medan City, North Sumatra.

"According to the suspect's statement, the marijuana will be brought to Jakarta," added AKP Andri.

Andri said, when he was secured by officers, it turned out that IS was monitored and directed by someone who immediately fled after witnessing the arrest.

"The suspect acted as a courier, while the one directing and controlling fled when the police were examining the suspect. His initials were RO and had DPO status," he said.

Together with the suspect, the police also confiscated evidence in the form of two large cardboard boxes, 1 cardboard containing 5 packages of brown color and 1 cardboard containing 8 packages suspected of marijuana.

"The suspect was charged with Articles 111 and 114 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics," he concluded. (*)
